I just watched this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esfg2ZsUXMA)! Seriously, I think Lady should just have won the big awards..the judges are bias!! psst...towards the pretentious Taylor Swift..raaahh. Diss her! Btw, her (Lady) outfit is simply outrageous again, imagine if Taylor Swift wore that, she'd died walking and become a shame monster. hur hur. I must much dislike towards the country singer because she made Joe Jonas looked bad on EllenDegeneres show..long story...

those shoes are crazy sia...

I would normally cook during the weekends unless I went back home to savor my mum's dishes.. so this weekend, I have left over loaves of bread going into pre-stale phase and a half-opened can of sweet baked beans with cheese.. And since wasting food is not my option, and I could save for a lunch meal, I decided to whip something out like a sandwich.. but I don't want eggs as I had boil eggs in the morning..

It's so easy with only two option, you just smeared both sides the bread (I prefer thick loaves Gardenia) with salted-butter and fried the bread in a medium heat frying pan. With a cooking spatula, flatten the bread so it'll burnt in the middle and turned crispy on the sides. Next, pour the sweet baked beans into the frying pan, fried with a dash of pepper in medium heat until it becomes goey thick...and viola, kiap your thin crusty bread with the cheesy beans..and it's yummy =)

Yup, as mentioned in previous post, I do miss Taiwan a lot.. I shall return in 2 yrs time perhaps.. In between, I hope to travel somewhere...

Last week was the death of the ruler of my city state (purposely don't want to use any malay word here)..and apparently, all the non-muslim would have to wear a black band around their arm for the grieving period. I heard from ppl that if you disobey, you
'd kena a slap, literally and saman rm300 based on no confederation rules. For whatever reason, I don't think it is right to slap a person at the first place. Anyway I'm considered a half-singaporean so I don't really care because I'm not (and never will be) a taxpayer for my city state..HAHA

BTW, go check out GLEE, the new hot comedy, musical series from FOX. I'm waiting for the downloads! Bring up the L-oser sign!

Hey!

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

So from the overly gorgeous tribes and mountains in outskirt of Hualien, we moved on to Taichung and Hsinchu and basically just food and shopping along the way! By the way, we manage to stop over at a lavender farm in Taichung thanks to to a nice cab driver who recommended us there..although it's not the first time I see a lavender, but it is a first time on a lavender farm! Smells good along the way, along with the nice cool weather =)

And then we leave for Taipei, yes for the extravaganza 2010 count down at Taipei City Hall. The crowd is just crazy, and the weather was really cold at first before the concert..we're running around for hot food and coffee..but when we get into the crowds..the body starts to warm up. I totally perspire like melting snowman when Mayday was up on stage!! I could only hear my own scream then. Anyway, the fireworks were amazing, but not that amazing..it was still a good experience!! First time new year celeb overseas =)

Long before my time

Monday, January 11, 2010

For the longest time, I'm going to do some updates. First of all, it's 2010 no apocalypse yet! Although not a good start for Malaysia with all the church burning and scarring...what an immoral and disgrace to the country. Anyway, in a selfish proclaim, I don't care anymore! Ha.. I would love to type a gadzillions of stuffs here, but it's going to last me till next morning. In a cap, the new semester have begun! yee ha, gotta take some interesting modules and my first job as a teaching assistant for a module. It's going to be a busy year!

I just came back from Taiwan, and what a wonderful place I must say...the weather, the people, the beauty, the food, and the clothes! I guess we're truly blessed along the journey from Taipei to wherever we went =) The weather is kind to us, it only rain when we left..and along the way we met many kind hearted souls, whom enriched our experiences and memories. =) We took the risk of crossing the Hehuan trench from Hualien to Nantou, hoping to encounter the so-called rare snow..well, we did! It was super cool, literally, and gorgeous whites just filled the mountain sides and pine trees.

(insert snowman pic)

Indigenous tribes in Taiwan are precious group of identities, resembling that of Malaysia's Iban, Dusun, Kadazan..and often it's exciting to actually study them. One of the tribes that we've learnt during our stay in Hualien is the Taroko tribe...anyway you can google em if interested! =)

To be continued..

No Line On the Horizon

Ok..so i forgot to bring my camera to the microbe party, and therefore any interesting and creepy pics can be viewed from Facebook via a friend album who tagged my ugly face in it!...Hah.

Been unduly busy this week..yikes..feel like time zoom pass very quickly in lab..sigh. I shall look forward to my December holidays! It's my second overseas trip with Liren, and well, we shall have many more to come! Talking about hols...me and Liren saw a pair of angmoh couple in JB custom, who looked extremely lost..And apparently, they walked towards the wrong direction to Singapore..So, we approach em telling them they walked the wrong way...well, then we chatted and coincidently they are also heading to Clementi. They are a pair of young French couple, whose English sounded so like my boss..creepy.. but what interests me is that they actually quit their job cuz their sick of it, pack their bags and head to south east asia and just don't give a damn about it. They guy once worked in South Sudan building water pipes for NGOs. Wow. Maybe one day, me and Liren will quit our job and travel to Bhutan or Mozambique for some serious soul searching..who knows, maybe we will! =)

"Stand by me...and darling darling stand by me"

I AM CURRENTLY WATCHING U2 LIVE FROM ROSE BOWL IN YOU TUBE CHANNEL-WOW!
I WISH I WISH THEY'D STOP BY SINGAPORE for their 360 deg tour!!!

Beautiful Nightmare

Thursday, October 22, 2009

The department party is tomorrow! This year theme is "Nightmare on Mirobe Street"..chimm.. but as usual, we had fun preparing all the food... our lab is in charge of the Franco-Swiss food (cuz my boss is French), unlike last year where we need to convert the whole seminar room and walkway into a disco room.. This year is much exciting cuz we'll do Halloween! =) Pumpkins craft, witch brew and broomsticks.. As a tradition, we'll have to dress up our boss according to the party theme...It's a secret which will be revealed tmr! Ha, I hope she looks good tmr =)

Here's a little sneak preview of some of the stuffs we made..little blind mice..
Ermm..actually looks more like Jumbo elephant ler..ha

WITCH FINGERS......

Oh shit, my blog header is missing!! Now where did it go?? Urggh, looks like i gotta find one to fill the naked header. Yo fat sis, can you help me do it?? heheh

After all hype that Liren has been psycho-ing me to watch Inglorious Basterds with him, finally we went to watch it! Surprisingly it was a good piece work of Quentin Terantino, well of cuz he's good! A dark comedy, with a pinch of Hitler sarcasm, action, love, betrayal, horror.. all manufactured into a nice story. =) Overall, it's 2 thumbs up!

Postgraduate studies for the past 3 months have been a turmoil, many ups and many downs as well. But, I learnt a lot along the way and that's what education is all about, right? Often, many would assume that postgrad is hell lots of lab work (yes, it's true cuz you'll be handling more than 1 project) but it's also a training ground for you to be independent, responsible of your own project, critical and most importantly maintain good relationship with your labmates although some might pissed you off in between...and that's when your EQ often plays an important role. And, no you don't have to be a smart ass to excel in research. Hmm maybe a knack in presentation skills.. Anyway, one lab I've known with top scholars students produced no results and no publications for the past few years. Well, there is no textbooks or prepared notes in scientific research. You start from nothing, plan and troubleshoot from something, and finally be critical on the bench cuz there's no room for mistakes. Or else you got to start all over again..On top of that, you have to plan to save the lab resources and the environment as well. I have to say, sci research is an interesting job, like I said many ups and downs (negative results, no results, weird results, etc) maybe I'll get bored of it someday, and move on to another science arena..but what's important is the present. Living to the fullest at the present is much effective than dreaming about the future. Really. Cuz everything will fall into place by itself...

Adieu.

Hello Hello my officially dead blog! Damn, i typed the wrong password into this blog site. That resonates how looong it has been...ahh man, everytime i'm home from lab, I would lay down on the sofa just doing nothing. Like a dead fish. Except maybe moving my two fingers to scroll the webpages on bags, facebook, emails etc..Unless I'm being forced by Liren for jogging..

Apparently, there's a whole bunch of ppl that I've known getting married this month! So, there's definitely overkill of red wine and laughter....Congrats to Chuyin, Jasmin, to Grace my fellow lab da jie. Congrats to Delvin gor for his up-coming wed in Dec.. So when is mine? I don't know! When someone propose I guess?

What's interesting these days? Hmm, nothing much except that Barrack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize and oh.. Avril Lavigne files for divorce..so much for her happy ending?

OK let's blog about my current squeeze..

As a Windows users for more than 10 yrs, I realised that Windows is so self-limiting and mundane and bored. It is true when one try his/her hands on Mac OS, there's no turning back. After more than a month of using a MacBook, I'm simply overjoyed because everything is kept simple and fast (incredibly faster than Windows). It never fails to amaze me with all the built in applications. Even the boyfriend is getting a Mac soon and kept wanting to use mine! Ha. So here's a few good things and some con of cuz as far as I'm concern..

The good:
-MacOS is essentially resistant to almost all internet spyware and viruses cuz they all attack most Windows OS. My thumbdrive is loaded with Trojans due to the STDs among the lab computers, and so far my laptop is not affected at all. Woohoo.
-iPhoto is brilliant, less than 10 seconds to transfer from an SD card and arrange all my photos according to event, place and face recognition. Yes, face recognition as in when I tag one photo with "YinFong" or"Jimmy"; every other photos with their face will be recognised and grouped in a folder under their respective name. How brilliant. And I can directly upload photos to Facebook using this application.
-Garage band, compose music directly on the laptop. Piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, drum, etc..
-Control iTunes and iMovie directly from the keyboard
-Light sensitive keyboards, which automatically illuminates in the dark
-Get Tube! from youtube =)
-MacOffice is much easier to manipulate and compatible to open in any form of Windows OS.
-The 2,3,4 fingers thingy! I love it, is so simple to scroll, expose, enlarge anything...
-100 secs to startup and 10 sec to shutdown
-3 sec to load the web browser safari
-No, and I mean NO crashes unlike Windows "End programme now" which totally pissed me off
-6 hrs of battery life!
-HD LCD screen, omg I love my screen.
-Aluminium bodied, nice to touch.

The bad:
-Cannot transfer songs to other mp3 brands except iPod. Which means, I die die have to get an iPod to replace my old Creative Zen. =(
-Need to download some converter to convert wma files to mp3 for iTunes
-Umm what else? I don't understand why some of my friends hated Mac at the first place...at least I still couldn't find the bad out of it. Yet.

The ugly:
-Price may be a concern, but I got a good deal from school with free MacOffice, Adobe CS4 and 3 yr apple protection plan worth $300+, free upgrade to MacOS X Snow Leopard roar..am waiting for my CD!

Personally, I think I'm paying for something I feel is worth the price. Well, I haven't tried flipping my Mac over to a Windows as I do not have a pirated cd on it, but come to think about it, why would I need Windows now??? Two words, Mac rocks.

I got a free T-shirt from MacNUS that says: "Once A PC" on the front and "Now A MAC" on the back. Haha damn cute.

Love,
Regina

Happy-ing

Saturday, August 29, 2009

And so I've met Ashin, Monster, Shitou, Masa and Guanyou last week!! It was a good show, nevertheless, Ashin is darn cute and others are incredibly talented. =) I don't really listen much to chinese songs esp chinese pop except for some classic by Jacky Cheung and that's it. By far, I only listen to Mayday and that is Wu Yue Tian, and that is I'm one of their biggest fan!! So, it's really a good night when I went down for their concert and the crowd were super high as well. Here are some nice shots taken from a digital camera...i think the stage resembles a cell (as in the basic organization of all life forms) undergoing mitosis or meiosis (fig 4).. Well, very much correlates with the tour theme "Mayday D.N.A world tour"..haaa. Some of the older songs were performed like Lian ai-ING, Jue Jiang and Crazy World, and mostly songs from the Poetry of the Day After album.

I DO

Friday, August 28, 2009

Went to watch The Proposal on Chinese Valentine's Day...duh, I didn't know such day existed until Liren surprised me so with the tics...anyway, loved the movie! As usual, Sandra Bullock rock the socks and Ryan Reynolds is cute but not much of charisma if compare to say Gerard Butler! Initially, I thought Gerard Butler was the male lead haha I got confused with "The Ugly Truth", which I'd be catching soon cuz I simply adore Gerard Butler and I personally think he's the sexiest man alive. Period. Think the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera movie, King Leonidas in 300 and Gerry Kennedy in PS I love you! Amazing roles....

Argh, too bad can't go home this weekend to be with my family and friends =( Saaaddd. Nian You, all the best to you in London (well, if you're reading this, if not then I guess I'll just message him..haa)! To be able to study in an angmoh university and experiencing an different culture at any point of your life...that is a already a wonderful opportunity! Work hard!

Alright, so what's next? I shall oodle back to my work..

Cheers

I gotta feeling

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Today is one of my slackest day eva!!! yee har, as I'm done with my lab presentation and I'm currently waiting for the sheep blood to come in to feed my lil friends in lab. Till then, I'm doing more of my paperwork basically lit review and reading with you tube and facebook in betweens of cuz! Well, the term officially started yesterday and it was not until today that I contentiously watch the newbies around aka first yer students..I suddenly gotta feeling that I'm incredibly old..fashioned! Yes, sad to say I'm only a jeans and t-shirt individual when on campus with makeup-less face of cuz...=( Today is like a forever21 fashion runaway.

ADOI.......I kinda forget about the existence of this blog! Haahaa..sigh I'm just too plain lazy to update..well unless if I have any announcement to make, like a wedding! Hmm, which I think would not be very soon!

Let's see what's in hand here, well I've graduated, commenced all set with the gown and a cap, matriculated all once again but the feeling is so much different this time round...perhaps the excitement wear off as we get older, and what else..well, basically nothing exclusive.

Love is in the air

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Hahaha..Ice Age 3 is utterly ridiculously Jack Black funny..! Apart from the lousy 3D effect... everything about the movie was just as good as nice buttered up popcorn. Yeah, we decided to check out on the Disney 3D hooha, but well, I have to say the characters are not very dimentionally poped out and actually I feel that I'm watching more of a normal 2D screening rather than enjoying the 3D effect. Surprisingly for Disney, I thought they would come up with 3D effects like what I've experiend in Universal Studios..OK never mind, the movie was good and that's all matter. I heart the "love is in the air" moment and the "laughing gas" moment where they emulate Alvin the chipmunks..duh..so funny!

Anyway, this weekend is not just another weekend..it's our anniversary!! 2nd year to the count! I made Liren a video last year, this year..well, I didn't plan anything for him as it's inconvinient to give him a surprise with him around the house..and I bet that's an excuse. Haha. Well, is the thought and love that's count. BUT he did cooked some awesome breakfast to surprise me this morning. Thanks big man! =)

Coco

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

I bumped into this trailer while browsing for a biography title of Coco Chanel. Honestly, I didn't know that there are making it into a movie starring Audrey Tautou! She looks amazingly like the real Coco Chanel...Anyway, I found my book in Amazon "Chanel and Her World" by Charles-Roux..Ok, I going to get it in one of the bookstores! On why I bother to read on Chanel apart from eying that 2.55 classic, well I guess her life is as intriguing as Anne Frank's, plus her rise from poor to fame, her affairs, her imprisonment, her association with the Nazis, her Chanel empire, her tweed coats, and of cuz her style and attitude that inspired many women in generations to come.

Falling in and out

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Watching Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen has indeed brought back so many many memories~~ of joy. It seems like time passes like a snap in the finger, oh how well I remembered ooh and aaahing at the first movie premier in Santa Monica. And the audiences loved it, we cheered and wolf whistled at end of the show! We seriously gloated on Transformers back then. I still remembered when we're riding along the US freeway, several GMC trucks zoomed passed and all of us are like..! Haha..

But today, watching Fallen in Singapore (Jurong Point to be exact, oh boy the GV there suck, I had to cringe my neck to level my eyes to the screen) has not brought the same feeling I had for the first one. Well, maybe is the environment, maybe is the people I watched with, or maybe is just the movie itself. Watever the maybe is, I still think the first one is still the best cgi action movie, apart from Ironman. Anyway, I personally feel tha Fallen and tha Megatron well..fall too easily, remembered how Megatron crash landed in the Artic and kena stuck there and found by the Grandpa? Damn pai seh..It's like they are nothing more than cheapskate Decepticons made of plastic whereas Opti is the aluminium bodied Mac Book super-pro. Come on, a bit more of action and twist will satisfy the fans more! And where is Optimus Prime girlfriend? She's like out for only 5 sec from the whole movie =( in the pink motobike, and I'm not so sure if that's the original female transformer I remembered from the cartoon..BUT props for the soundtrack, cuz they rock and the S7 g-string! muahaha..

Anyway I have a few highly anticipated movies that I'm looking forward to..
Sherlock Holmes (I love Robert Downey!)
Ironman 2 (Robert Downey again!)
Alice in Wonderland (One of my fav classic of all time! and is starring Johnny Depp!)
I would watch ANY Johnny Depp movie...hhaa....ok I guess the list goes on..and on.

Roll-out
