Hmm so we went makan again..damn it my tummy is showing up =S Burp! The RiceTable has a variety of really good and authentic Indonesian cusine..the satay ayam dengan kuah satay dan ayam panggang memang sedap sekali.. Anyway it's a buffet style, can eat all you (i) want... haha. Zee price is affordable too. Next time will bring my girlfriends along!!

Oh how I wish my house has a bar like this..+) Kaka.. Chill out at Indochine HollandV for a shameful Manchester United match against WestHam. Darling is suckling all the way back to KR..poor baby. Anyway, we had finger-licking chicken wings and zee service is good. Look at the series of Vodka on the wall...woo..

Yay! 2-O.O-8 coming! New year, new resolutions, new semester. It's time to let go and move on! All I can say 2007 has been really good to me...from studying (&playing) in UCLA to travelling to so many places, from making so many new friends along the way to falling in love with the kindest, sweetest (ok even though he likes to tease, but I know he don't mean it duh), funniest, happiest 人 ever, from working at the Robinsons to tolerating difficult customers gah!, from having to deal with the difficult lectures, labs, & examination in NUS to loosing it all back even when the effort is there...but then again, did I really loose? Hmm no I don't think so. What I gain here is experience and my family morale support during hard times..heck, I am going to make 2008 another wondeful journey..! =) Because only ourselves can make things happen in our life.

Went to fish Mart Sakuraya at The Village Pasir Panjang yesterday, sell all sorts of Japanese food fresh salmon!...gah the set meals there are tad expensive. Just bought a canned unagi to sample it with instant noodles later. So, we decided to walk down the street to have some duckie rice recommended by ShenXing. Indeed, taste quite good but the cost a bit unreasonable...Ah nowadays, nothing is cheap, esp in Singapore.. =_=" We actually went back to Sakuraya, to get some Japanese ice cream~~zee vanilla mochi and vanilla choc con. Yummylicious...=)

Its been a while

since I post up anything here. Been busy for the past 2 weeks. Traveling, wedding, makan-ing of cuz.. Flew to Penang for Kev's wedding last 2 weeks. Was surprised that AirAsia had this leather covered seats, which is pretty comfortable. Kev's ko weeding is simple, quick and witty at the same time. Love his apartment by the sea view, next to Gurney Drive, where the hawker food stalls are situated. Ooo the char kuey tiao is so nice!!

Then we went up to Langkawi..ferry came late, the sea was rough and had nausea along the way. But Langkawi was tad boring. All we did is shopping and sigh seeing. Anyway, the chocs and alcohol were levied without tax..so is damn cheap la. Like a bottle of Abs Vodka cost only RM35..!

Then to KL. To meet grandma,1st unc,2nd unc,3rd unc..bla bla...and to shop. Pavilion KL is gigantic. Looks pretty neat to me like an indoor Orchard road. The stuff there are pretty expensive as well...high ended goods for high class people. And to Kev's ko side wedding, which is the Hoo family. Man, got a bit tipsy that night. Everyone is so drunk. Too much of red wine and henessy. Kakaka.

Then to Melaka. Home sweet home. Nothing beats my Aunt Irene's peranakan baba nyonya cooking..! Syok! It's sinfully delicious! Anyway, I'm a descendant of the Melaka peranakan and nyonya food and delicacies are part of my heritage! =)

Then back to Kota Tinggi. Thank heaven thank earth for not flooding the town during the moment of high tide crisis! Phew! But gotta help to shift all the things back to downstairs..duh!

Then back to Singapore. Small little spot. With the invitation of the release of examination results. Sigh. Only improve a tiny mini bit. But I should not disheartened! Jia you! Hmmm time to reorganize and make improvements for next year.

And next week will be flying off to Penang for Kev's wedding...Laksa babey. Satay babey. Penang's very own fried keuy tiaw. Wahaha. It's been ages since I went to Penang. Darn tired. Yesterday just finish my last and the very last paper-Immunology. I have no comment on it. Its over. History. Sudah menjadi sejarah. After the gruesome 2 hours, me and Ren went to Dim Dai Fung for their noodles and dumplings. Damn nice. Today shift my stuff to Liren's room, phew. I body ache like mad. Then go through the blaring rain back home. And now I am home. And home is definitely the best place on earth. And I can start my marathon this holiday:

First of all, bad news. Lilly emailed and rejected my internship application. Well, try my luck in some other companies ba... Eee nvm, my sis will be working, she can then "support" her sis here a bit.. ngekngekngek...=)

Today whole day no mood to study at all .GAARRRHHH. Call back home and pokpekpokpekpokpek with Mummy for 20 minutes again.. Maybe its becuz the weather is so damn nice-breezy..I suddenly told Liren- "Let's go out. Go somewhere. I feel like I'm in a prison now." And we went to Holland V for sushi. And look at some cute dogs in the VetClinic. We saw a WHITE golden retriever...Damn chio~~



Korean recording firms rejected her for more 10 times, maybe not cute and sexy enough like Boa..She then self taught herself Japanese and flew to Japan for an audition at 16. And she got the contract. The rest is history. Wow. I think she's one hell of a talented young singer around. And she actually introduces the genre called "Piano Rock", she's also dubbed as Asian Avril Lavigne..heh And now KOREANS want her back-Younha (Secret No.486). Haha. So ironic.

I have been procrastinating since yesterday after pharmaco paper. Relax the neurone cells a bit. Been doin some youtubing (checkin out Leona Lewis new vids/past vids-I think she's damn hot la! A bit like younger Beyonce), some scrolling on dresses-cocktail dress, so addicted to it now! AHAHHA and I totally GLORIFY REEM ACRA's collection. She sort of read my mind- her design was everything I had in my mind for a beautiful gown..Unfortunately a piece will cost as much as my one year school fee, maybe even more...kakakaka, and you'll have to fly to NY to get it..Well, it's not a crime to LOOK and GASP at beautiful dresses, rite? Her wedding gowns are simply to-die-for..damn chio~

And some oooing and ahhhing at nice bags-I AM A BAGOHOLIC tee hee, everytime I achieve something I would reward myself with bagssss. I don't spent much on clothes though..I totally dig aunt Lai's philosophy. A bag as a reward for her hard year work. She would actually fly to Milan to get the Prada or Paris to snag the LV. Wahaha well, I still not up to that level. Yet. Soon. Gee maybe in 15 years time? =)

Woke up at 10.30am this morning, it's bcuz someone kept banging at my door..duh, saw two fat uncles, one malay guy and the malay lady security guard.. "Sorry ah, we want to change your curtains" =_=" OK so they changed my lovely light peach curtains to some shitty tofee coloured ones with vertical bands..damn it. But its thinner, therefore wind can flow in easily and since its darker cuz it's a shit colour, my room is sort of like a dark cocoon now with a bit of illuminated sunlight..its comfy, i would say-make me wanna lie on my bed even more!, but why can't they choose maroon or dark navy blue instead???

So I went for an internship interview with Eli Lilly-NUS today. Outcome? Positive. Waiting for their good news. =)

Weekend

break at home passed very quickly , a snap of fingers I'm back on the familiar MRT station, on the familiar 183 bus, and seeing a very familiar big head...and THAT is the only thing that makes my return a happy joyful one!

Sigh~ Life is great with him. I know I know...sound very mushy rou ma.. but it's the truth. I think life is like a jigsaw puzzle, got many different pieces of shapes and sizes, you must have at least two pieces to join together at the initial point to get the whole picture. Each jigsaw represents the ones you love-your parents your siblings your friends your children your grandchildren, your ambition and your dreams..When you found that someone, you'll feel like your life potrait is almost complete, like he's part of your little jigsaw...never fails to make me smile, every single day.=)

Last Thurs we went OUT for late anniversary SPREE..due to the many CAs and projects.. Good movies and good food, what more can I ask??

Nonetheless, it's an interesting module (I particularly enjoy the last 6 lectures on galaxy's evolution, black holes, dark matter..) Gee, I'm such a nerd, but anyways it's amazing that we are living in a tiny mini speck of the universe.. beware there's something else more spectacular than us out there!! Sometimes I really wonder if the other 99 billion galaxies in the whole wide universe has any form of intelligent living creatures like us?? Hmm highly possible..! Maybe in some weird octopus, robotic, dinosaurs-like, ice-age perhaps..I'm too much. haha. Term paper also more or less gau tim *Daniel is ssoo highly efficient!* so, now waiting for me to stretch my fingers for editing. =)

I have been staring at my computer since 4pm. Now is 11.30pm. I am getting cockeyed already.. Arggh..finally DONE with the cardio's essay!! Surrender it to "turn it in," get a 1% similarity in return. Phew!! What a relief. I am so proud of myself. =) Currently in final steps of editing. Respiratory info sourcing also done. Now it's up to the other grp to strut their presentation. I will just sit back and relaxxx....hoho

So what's next? Next is even jia lat..2000words term paper for zee universe. But I got Daniel aka the zai one aka the perfectionist, so he'll make sure I do a good job! Haha..stress sia...work with him. Been charging NUS a lot of money recently, so many projects, so many PAID articles and journals to download. Haha heck care. Who ask NUS to gimme stress??

Ok so finally Cardio presentation is done!! Cardio essay is still on its way of completion.. HOWEVER, some smart ass profesor decided to give us ANOTHER round of presentation and one more piece of essay due before study week. KNS. This is too much.. Now I hate this module. Gggrrr..Basically, now I am mugging for my final term-test and pia-ing for PC1322 term paper!Then this module would be officially a last goodbye!! Ha! No more nerd-nerd lecturer..

I need some retail therapy now..and maybe some scrumptious food therapy would be good..*hint hint ren!* OK OK don't stress..Relaxxx....

Can't think of a title

I am completely exhausted lately. Part of me wants to completely escape from the reality I am in now. I want to go back to the days where I don't have to face the thing call "modules" and "more work". I wish I can, you know, let go and let loose, not to study, not to do assignments, not to do anything but unfortunately I can't.

Every single day, I woke up reminding myself to stay strong and just do my best for the day. At least, I hope that even I screw up on anything, consolation is there with me to tell me that I have done my best. Yes, coming to NUS have changed me, hoping to be a better person, a stronger person but definitely not a smarter person. If I am smart, I would not end up struggling in NUS. I would be somewhere far far away from NUS. Point spoken. But somehow I got lucky along the way. Met many incredible people and ONE lover along the way. Well, I guess everything happen for a reason, good or bad, it always has an outcome.

And I was thrust upon another major responsibility as Marketing Director for a CCA. Crossing my fingers, I hope everything will run on smoothly.

Wah, I didn't know Li Ren loves to go shopping with me until yesterday. We went to Big O for lunch before heading to Vivo City for my LBD. Ermm.. he even hand-picked a few dresses from F21 for me to try and patiently waited for me to change. Finally got a really classy V-cut LBD haha I love it. OK so now I'm officially poor again for the month of October..and it's just the beginning of the month. =( But that dress is a MUST ma for Kev's ko wedding...

Mugging for Immunology is seriously not an easy job. Well, who says it's going to be easy at the first place? Sometimes, the on goings in a human body really amaze me. How can such a minor pathway and molecule can sustain the whole living system, can sustain our health and life? It's really intriguing at times..but when you start memorising protein molecules with alphabet and numerical annotation, you start to get crazy. And I mean CRAZY, as in siao.

I want to go back to the United States!!!!!!! I never get enough of Vegas, I miss the beauty of San Francisco, I definitely miss LA and of cuz, San Diego...For the first time I questioned myself...

What is an enjoyable and fulfilling university life? Personally, it's when you can play all weekend, study during the weekdays, AND still manage to score A for all your modules!, wear sunglasses to class and say hi to ppl along the way, wear jacket to class without have to perspire, have Coffee Bean in your canteen (free flow..), Hogwarts style library, hot American football players, a shopping mall in the uni and not definitely not CO-OP, stay in hall where your neighbour is some hot korean guy, no need the print lecture notes cuz you can buy the coursepack (even if u need you can print it in your own hall computer lab for FREEEEEEE unlike CBLC suck big time) and cool cool breeze WITH warm sunshine...ahhh just nice~~

Too bad, this is just a short-live happiness of my uni life in LA. Sobz.....I should have just apply for the exchange programme for the full semester...

Damn it, I tend to procrastinate at home..like going out with mummy, watching tv, afternoon nap, cleaning up my room, reading the Star...simply finding an excuse not to touch my Immunology notes. Everytime I go through the notes, I will be "wah lao ehh what is this woh..flip flip text book..sai the book makes thing even more complicated..aiyo" =="" Currently mugging at home, doing assignment from home, and webcam-ing with Ren from home. He's now back to Ipoh, eat sleep eat sleep and eat.

Got a new haircut again. I think it's pretty neat..straighten my hair so everyday is a good hair day for me now =)

After reading so many horrendous news of murder, rape etc I suddenly felt unsafe living in Malaysia. And especially Johor..what a scary place..I felt for the brutally murdered Malay gal a couple weeks ago. How I wish the murderer would "lead a miserable and painful life till the last moment of his life" as quoted by a friend. Personally, I think this guy should just be thrown into a crocodile dent so that he wont contaminate the earth with his dead body.

Busy busy

..week. SIGH! I WANT long holidays..So much to study and do. Two CA coming up, next week, and I'm still mugging for it. Right now. SO I thought I should take a little time off, a little break to fill up my blog post. =D

I took some time off yesterday, from everything that is related to my studies, and went to Clarke Quay with Lina jie for dinner. We went to Brewerkz for a nice American dining, reminds me of LA..the atmosphere there is great with many angmohs and soccer fans, mainly because Manchester United is playing on the huge plasma screen yesterday! Delicious food and yummy home brew beer..Lina jie bought me Disney mooncakes from Hong Kong..I love the cute steel boxes =)
Went to Chinatown later to meet Liren for supper, but I am super-bloated from the ribs at Brewerkz, and therefore effortlessly watched him eat his char kuey tiaw and chendol. They had this major mooncake festival event going on in Chinatown, so many people. OH man, I hate large crowds. Wrong place at the wrong time =(

So so bored until I have decided to cook my favourite foo chouk yu mai to satisfy my sweet tooth.. Yes, I got all the ingredients on hand except for pandan leaves. Now, I'll have to work some magic... and after 4 hours of slow cooking this is what it looks like:

Dunno why feel so tired lately..maybe lack of exercise, gotta hit the gym and court next week. First immunology lab is fun, 100times better than boring Pharmaco. Poor Stuart Little, have to be skinned and dissected by Justin and Lionel. I only help to massage its abdomen..hehe.. No lab report, that's the best thing about lvl 3 module. =)

The momentum for this semester begins at week 3. From project group discussion to tutorial questions about trigonometry and binomial expansion, life has never been less busy. Summer feedback session with the Vice Sci Dean (Prof Roger Tan) was a breeze..he asked lots of questions, whether we had fun or not..101% YES!!, the lifestyle in US, the cultural exchange and most importantly whether we are academically shortchange in UCLA. Well, personally I don't think so, at least not from the modules I took; Bioterrorism requires a lot of reading (and a NOVEL as a text book..) and Atmospheric Environment from Dept of Maths and Sci is not that easy either..FOS has been tremendously helpful in such a great programme and XiuJuan from Dean's Office as well..Really appreciate it! Well, as Prof Roger Tan has hinted, I guess I cannot escape the "alumni donation" letter lor..heh heh

Went for Stargazing at SRC last Fri under PC1322 requirement..First time seeing JUPITER and its four moons with super-zai telescope.. WoW. Then I met the former Astro Soc President..still remember him, looks more yao yeng now..hehe. He showed us the Sagittarius and Capricorn constellation. Was really amazed!

Been supporting Ren's and Liang's IBG the whole week for basketball and handball.. and they WON won for each game!! YaY. Way to go, guys!! Jia You for the IHG!! 我是你们的头号 fans!! hehe =)

Today is extremely a tiring day. Woke up at 7 am for the BioBiz conference at Biopolis. All the Big Pharmas were there. Learnt one important thing today. Degree is JUST a degree. All of us will end up with the same paper scroll. Employers look beyond that.. personality, courage to fail, passion, commitment..so much interpersonal skills that one cannot learn form just reading the text books. Made me sit down and think what I have got to offer apart from my academic knowledge, which I think would be obsolete by time I graduate from NUS... hmmm. I'm just an average person with an average results and an average resume to boost, more or less equivalent with the more than 200 applicants. But one thing is fore sure, I believe in using the knowledge of Sci or working with companies that contribute their profits from Sci industry to help others and ACTUALLY make a difference, a better living for all.

Back to NUS with a sore arm

Sigh~~going back to Singapore in 2 hrs time. Looking forward to go back bcuz of Ren. Not looking forward to go back bcuz piles of assignments, tutorial ques, readings, etc.. waiting for me to do..AND it's already the 3rd week in NUS..time really flies.

Went for my GARDASIL vaccine injection this morning against HPV infection. Gardasil actually comprise of recombinant virus-like particles of major capsid proteins of HPV of different strain and it will induce our adaptive immune system to produce antibodies against HPV. Hehe chim...I learnt a lot bout vaccination in UCLA.. Mum said she sponsor, so I oblige lor.. Actually fat sis suppose to be vaccinated, but she said "wohai mei you zuo xin li chun bei..bu yao bu yao!!!" Scared huh?? Hurhur..I think I kena inject more than 5 times this year, before I went to US (all those HepA, influenza vaccine)..and my blood test. Sobz..

Little things that make life great

Went to Plaza Singapura yesterday to re-sign my contract and bought a new phone from Starhub..I so lurrrveee my K810i, can sms very fast with those charming buttons..and double up as an efficient camera that took pretty decent pics..Woohoo! =) Thnks Wanting and Aunt Jennifer! heee SonyEric all the way!

"Bu ke shuo de secret" is quite good..Jay Chou could improve more on his acting AND his pronunciation, "Xiao Yu" is surprisingly a good actress..nonetheless, Jay is kinda creative when it comes to the storyline and plot, although a bit of illogical and bizarre in the end..haha but anyways still enjoy the movie bcuz I love the music. 6.5 out of 10 perhaps? =)

And we end up eating @ Sushi Tei for dinner..I so LOVE the unagi+prawn+avocado roll..yummy! Tks a lot Ren!! I think that's one of their popular dish ba... However, I still dig for ICHIBAN SUSHI'S super juicy salmon pieces when I had with Hazel....fooyo.....SEDAP!

Today woke up very early for Immuno lecture...interesting lecture btw. As usual, Ren is late again. Hmrmph! And nearly doze off at PC1322 lecture..sienz dao...no comment. And hehe darling accompany me back to JB, all the way to City Square..was a bit awkward when he saw my DaD...I just couldn't stop laughing..paiseh ah Renren? Anyway, Ren if you are reading this, don't worry la, you left a good impression on my parents already. Cheers!!

HMMRPH...I couldn't believe Manchester City is LEADING the score in EPL..and NOT Manchester United, pathetically with only 2 points at the moment..What the *beep*!!! No more Man Utd glory!! And since MU have about 1% chance to be the EPL champion this year, I hope either Chelsea (bcuz Frank Lampard is HOT! and I got the official Chelsea ball hehe) or Liverpool bcuz they played a really really good game.

Human Phy

practical is not as boring as I expected..in fact, I can't wait for the next practical session! There's a couple of heavy weightage assignments which I'll be teaming with Johnathern..(hmm what a peculiar spelling for a name!! haha) AND Dr. Lina Lim, the module coordinator, is the hottest female prof I've ever met..and the guys were like "eh chio bu le..!" And she's super friendly, and seems very approachable. She got some UROPS project under her..hmm maybe I should consider..

I ran like I never ran before today, feeling the urge to run..to get some things off my mind, and ran all the way to KR to meet Ren and Liang for dinner. Shiok, feel 2 kg lighter..as if =)

Just came back from Fong Seng supper with the guys..oh man, I feel so bloated right now..filled up my tummy with nasi lemak kampung and milo peng =S. There goes my fat burnt out today... Tomorrow is FREE DAY, no 6hrs immuno lab..YEA!! Meeting Wanting to re-sign my phone plan, and get a spanking new phone, and watch Jay Chou's movie with Ren. So broke $$$ by tomorrow, yet still feel so blessed...=)

I can't help it, I just need to procrastinate right now..Second week of school and my readings started to pile up..phew. Understanding the Universe seems more like astronomy than astrology..oh no.. -__-" and forum participation counts at 5%. What to crap there lehh..?

It is not going to be an easy journey for this semester, especially now in my third year, competing with my fellow third years who all definitely has the "pia" spirit in em..BUT, I guess I'm really really really blessed, because I not going to walk alone this semester..I got Ren as my pillar of support. And he will always have mine. =) Let's chiong together!! And what CCA to join so that I'll have enuogh points to stay in the final year? Hmmm..rotaract, perhaps?

Listening to Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" makes me wanna hit the dance floor.."Ma ma se ma ma ma ma coo sa..!" Eee feel like sipping my Malibu Sunrise...sigh~~~

I love my new bedroom (block 23) window view...a vast horizon of big blue sky and white puffy clouds..it's esp gorgeous when dusk sets in..I always try to guess the name of the cloud after taking Atmospheric and Env..haha. And I always had the feeling that God must be looking down at me right now under the vast bluish horizon. -__- There are times when the smoked from the BBQ pit below will ascend up to my window..and uummm chicken and sausages aroma will fill in...never fails to make me hungry!!

Haiz..so bored. Today Understanding the Universe lecture is not as exciting as I expected. Stupid noisy freshies, kept on talking and cursing in front of me, and behind me..*slap slap*. No respect for the poor lecturer, even tough he's boring la.. Dan nearly whack their faces...Immuno lecturer kept on spitting into the microphone, damn irritating and his notes are hmmm like no link? Grrrr...

Monday bluess..Tuesday even blueeee

The first day of sch, Human Physiology lecture.. so far, so good. At least the lecturer is bold enough to make some lame jokes..Met Liang and Vanessa at the lt entrance, and Vanessa asked bout Liren..I wonder WHO spread the news..must be Liang Liang la!! Hmm, Sci canteen somehow don't look the same to me anymore...after 1 and half months of dining at buffet-styled cafeteria at Rieber, queuing up for food in a humid environment like Sci canteen makes me wanna go back to Rieber Hall all over again..! I know I shouldn't complain, but I cannot help to compare maa..Well, at least Sci got Megabites..but eeee Western food again..I had swore off any western food for a month after LA trip, but heck, ate a big bowl of Bologna's spaghetti at Megabites.. quite yummy..

Second day of sch did not start off with very much enthusiasm.. PC1322 intro lecture is boring, and Daniel kept talking and ponting and some hot freshies.. oh man I feel so old now being in third year, in addition taking the same mod with the first year students...Well, at least a whole bunch of my gang from different faculty are taking the same PC1322 module, and the first time as well =)

And my fat Renren is coming back tomorrow!!! Yeahh *filled with happiness* after so many SMS and late night phone calls with him from Ipoh, he is finally coming back.. and coming back with my favourite Ipoh sweet biscuits!! Yum yum =) I wonder how the third Kong will react if he knows about me and Ren............

Home sweet home

Currently leading a pretty mundane lifestyle back at home..wakeup then go online, exercise a bit, eat and eat (roti canai, teh tarik, nasi lemak, char siew fan, char kuey tiaw,etc etc!), sleep and read. Boring..well, actually I can't wait for the new semester to start. New modules, new Sci canteen, new clothes, new haircut, and of cuz new challenges ahead.

Decided to take 4 modules this coming semester, so life would be less hectic for me..muahahaha and so that I can concentrate more on the 4 modules..which I heard from many seniors that Immunology and Fund. Pharmacology are ultimate combo killer subjects. -_-:: WTH, I'll just give my best shot then! And I'll be doing Human Physiology and Understanding the Universe..yay SHOULD be quite interesting =)

I will remember you...

I vividly remember the day I bid farewell to my friends in PGP and my parents at Changi Airport on June 18th. Later, the "Famous Five" of us met up at the boarding counter to get our pass, anticipating our journey and our new life in Los Angeles.

I remember the day when we need to transfer a plane in Bangkok to LA, we were running like "The Amazing Race" to the isolated terminal, scared that we will miss our plane. Haha..

I remember my first night view of LA which is from the plane above.. I was mesmerized. I remember my first encounter with Aunt Lai in LAX, who greeted us happily and has been a wonderful host for us. And her cat, as well, who big blue-green eyes would fiercely stared back at us..

I remember the bus journey to Las Vegas with YinFong. I remember the heat that made my skin burnt and my nose bleed. And Yin Fong's sis and bro-in-law brought us around Las Vegas, shopping, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead..I could not thank them for more. I remember betting my first jackpot game at Luxor Casino and eventually won $8 bucks..haha. That was fun!

I remember my first sight of San Francisco when I walked up the stairs from Bart Station. I thought I was in New York. I remember the freezing moments at Fisherman Whraft, where Liren bought me knitted gloves to keep my hand warm. I remember Golden Gate, the Alcatraz view and the ever so beautiful San Fran Bay. What a picturesque view!

I remember of cuz, Disneyland, the land where "Dreams do come true". The best thing about Disney? The amazing fireworks above Disneyland Castle. I remember Universal Studios rides (Jurassic Park ride is awesome!!) and the studio tour. I remember being ON the set of Wisteria Lane in Desperate Housewives.

I remember taking the long bus ride to Home Deport just to watch David Beckham's LA Galaxy. I remember the super-duper fun Magic Mountain trip. It was one hell of rides for us!! I remember downtown LA, Santa Monica and Venice, Hollywood screaming at Daniel Radcliff, little Tokyo of cuz, Jersey Boys amazing performance.

And of cuz, I remember UCLA the most. My roomate Anne from Denmark. Rieber 6 South. The dining halls, my lecture halls, my lecturer (Prof Robinson and Prof Lew) and the moments I had with my friends and Liren. I will remember all of them.

On my way to LAX in Aunt Yen's car, I bid farwell to the beautiful Los Angeles sky. Got a bit teary here. I will definitely miss LA. And I will definitely be back in the future.

Six Flags Magic Mountain rocks!

I never screamed so much in my entire life before..and I got so tanned from walking around the Magic Mountain theme park which is on a desert. But all the adrenaline pumping rides make all the screaming (and sore throat) and sun burnt worthwhile. I had the best roller coaster rides in my entire life in MM. Basically 5 of us (again!) with 2 other NTU gals chiong almost all of the mediocre and hardcore rides in the theme park. Woohoo! Awesome...it's hard to describe 'the moment' when you are a few hundred feet about ground and speeding at about 170mph! My fav rides of all: Xtreme. We took the ride right after sunset, and I can see the stars and the night view as I was going up the wheels. So nice right? Then my head goes down first. And my seat was literally dangling, flip and spin all the way...Shiok!

I called home yesterday. And my sis sort of blurted out the ending of Harry Potter 7th book. DARN!! Now I know who died in the end. Ggrrrr...

Summer came like cinnamon..so sweet

We went down to Santa Monica and Venice beach last week after our midterm...It's nice to be near the beach and the sea..The lifeguard house with sunset backdrop reminds me of Baywatch..haha.

And we definitely have the time of our life here...

Friday went to Downtown LA, visited Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA Convention Centre, Staples Centre (too bad Lakers not playing =( ) and Little Tokyo. Lil' Tokyo has this small Japanese Plaza where you can find all possible nihon stuff from jap food to jap manga..Felix bought the Final Fantasy Yuna figurine for less than USD20!! And we had our fill of shabu shabu..yum!!

Aunt Lai fetch us to Desert Hill Premium Factory Outlet for some shopping. We end up shopping more than we budgeted!! Sigh~~ All things here are cheap cheap and cheap. And is ArmaniEx, Guess, Fossil, Levis ($9.99)..how can one NOT shop? And the three gay buddy shop more "xiong" than me lor! Now how am I going to fit all those six jeans in my luggage??? Hmm..

Chealsea + Universal Studios

Last week Chealsea Football team came for their practise at UCLA..well, I'm not a big soccer fan but I still tag along with the guys...heard they are here to build up their fan base in the United States (cuz majority of Asians support ManU!) and I think they are having a friendly match against LA Galaxy (the "Beckham" team"..)today at Santa Monica. So, a group of us walk down to the football field, and the first soccer celebrity we saw is Ashley Cole. He's on a golf cart, and Lionel chased after him for a signature...Cole managed to grab Lionel's pen and he asked the cart driver to stop but the stupid driver just wouldn't stop. #%*&! In the end, Cole had to throw back Lionel's marker pen, which lended on the floor..poor marker...
Then we all rushed to another stadium with our FREE adidas Chealsea FC football..! Yay, I managed to score Frank Lampard's signature, OMG he is sssooo handsome!! Other signatures include the club head coach Jose Mourinho, Didier Drogba, Scott Sinclair and Saloman Kalou. Yay, even tough I don't really know them, but it feels so good to stand face to face with cute football players and get their signature!!

Watched Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix last Friday. Hmmm not as good as I expected lor..lots of loops and scene transition is not good. I still prefer reading the book. After HP, we being the kiasu and cheapskate bunch, movie hopped the whole day! hehe!

Saturday went to Universal Studios! Fun, fun and fun! Love the Jurassic Park and the Mummy rides...and the best would be Universal Studio tour! The most memorable studio set would be Wisteria Lane, Fairview from Desperate Housewives. I recognised Gabrielle, Bree, Susan and Lynette houses..so cute and pretty! Those Wisteria Lane houses are real with furnitures inside! Too bad they are not filming now..or else we all would be able to see the housewives! The best set would be from the War of the Worlds. Boeing 747 split into half right in font of me. Wow.

Ok. I am having too much fun here. Gotta study for tomorrow test. Again.

San Francisco + Disneyland + Harry Potter!!!

OK my dear sister if you're reading this..yeap i'm doing fine here and i didn't forget your pressie..hehe. Been travelling a lot for the past 2 weeks.
Went to the beautiful San Francisco 2 weeks ago. It's really cold in San Fran, I need to wear at least three layers of clothes to keep me warm. But the beauty of Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate, the pretty Victorian houses by SF bay, the seafood and the beautiful sunset by the bay makes it all worth it. And of cuz, I got someone by my side to keep me warm throughout my stay in San Fran...haha. Thank you Liren for the gloves. I am blessed. Well, SF speciality; thick,goey clam soup in sourdough bread. Lots of sea gulls by the bay. And OMG, Alcatraz Island prison. Only can see from afar, cuz ferry tics totally sold out. =( All in all, the reminiscence of this SF trip put a smile on my face :D

Went to Disneyland last week with Liren, YinFong, Felix the cat, and Lionel Messy. Love the rides, the parade, the fireworks in front of Disney castle and the honeymoon feeling...will be back to Florida Disneyworld in hmm 5 years time?? haha
The next day went to Hollywood to catch a glimpse of Harry Potter Order of Phoenix US Premier.. And I manage to squeeze into the front row of screaming HP fans.. Yeap, saw Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert something (Ron Weasly).. forget his name. 1 metre away from me. They looked so young. Emma is so beautiful! Crazy fans in Hogwarts sch uniform are screaming and screaming. Life in America..

is ideal, is relaxing, is very laid back, is definitely less competitive. America is a very liberal country where human rights were placed at the upmost level. I was amazed when the platform of a public bus can actually be flipped over onto the roadside curb so that diable passenger can get onto the bus with their wheelchair. The bus driver would also get off the bus and help the disabled passenger...now you don't see this back in Malaysia or Singapore.. And there are special seats on the bus reserved for disabled people and the elderly..nice..

Most of the American that I've met are friendly and respectful. In my hallway, everyone would just say "hi" "hey" when we bump to each other and start chatting. In PGP, when I say "hi" to a resident, she would just give me "a look"... =:=

In almost every lecture, students in UCLA would definitely raised their hands up to ask questions, interrupting the lecturer's talk. I have not encountered any of the event when a student actually stop the lecturer from talking in NUS...

Actually me and YinFong took about 800+ pics from Vegas.. so I'll just pick up a few first..will upload more when I'm free. Today is my first lecture in UCLA. First half was interesting, second half nearly doze off liao.. but my lecturer is damn funny. I love the fact that he is very casual, berms and hawaian shirt!! I wish NUS have more lecturer like him.

UCLA is a very very very pretty campus, with beautiful landscape and buildings, just like what I saw in most movies (ie Harry potter). Will upload more pics on UCLA once I got the pics from Yinfong. The environment here is very relaxing, and the weather is soothing during the day. You can just lay on the green grass and see hunky guys playing foodball (rugby)..hehe. The only downside of UCLA is there is no shuttle bus to my lecture hall..which means that I have to walk about 15 mins to class everyday..but I don't mind cuz the weather here is nice and the surrounding is beautiful..

I love the food they serve at Reiber Hall!! OMG we got a salad bar, free flow of cafe latte/mocha/coffee, all kinds of cereals, all kinds of pizzas, hotdogs, pancakes, burgers, cheesecake, brownie, free flow of ice cream!!!, more cakes, cookies, various fruits, mexican food, italian food, soups, breads, muffins, etc etc..all u can eat buffet style baby!

My room is quite comfy, share with 2 gals one from Denmark the other from Egypt. Friendly people. =) Next door is a grp of Singaporean. And almost half of the students in my hall is from South Korea..Anhyong!

Just arrived at Walnut a couple hours ago..on the journey back to LA from Vegas, I bid goodbye to the beautiful desert and the beautiful sunset..

Little Las Vegas in Nevada is like a melting pot of gold (and cash)..was totally mesmerized by the each of the casino's architecture and theme. Visited the Mandalay Bay, Luxor (Egyptian style), Excalibur (fairytale castle syle), MGM Grand (the famous white lion!!), NewYorkNewYork, CocaCola LV, M&Mfactory LV, Bellagio (OMG, i LOVE the musical fountain), Ceasar Palace (Celine Dion's home concert), Paris hotel, Freemont (rooftop laser show) and the best place is of cuz..Premium factory outlet!!! Cheap branded goods!

The jackpot machine, the buffet with japanese, mexican, italian, chinese cusine, the cocktail, the musical play, the heat of Nevada desert, the James Bond movie dam, the famous man-made lake, the Vietnamese food, the American cinema, the humongous burger...all I can said, "BEEN THERE DONE THAT!"

Therefore, as a conclusion, I am officially broke now =( Will have to feed on bread for the rest of the week..

Viva Las Vegas

After 18 hours of flight, I finally had time to online to post something here..we were all super excited after touching down at LAX..the weather was nice and cool..After staying one night at Aunt Lai's house, me and Yinfong proceed to Las Vegas the next morning.

We spent the whole day touring Las Vegas town and Arizona, the weather is super duper hot.. totally roasted!! Will post up some really nice pics on Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the absoulutely stunning Vegas strip and blvd, live shows.....lots of lights and sound and casino! (thks to the effort of Yinfong's sis) And the Bigshot was crazy, I was up in the air for less than 5 secs and when I opened my eyes, the whole town LV town was right in front of me! Was screaming and screaming...

Tomorrow will be another long day for us..cuz we plan to visit each and every casino on the strip!! till then..

I wanna make a memory

So I have finally meet most of my old friends today at the same old hang out place..and talked bout all those flashback memories we had back in secondary school. Crap about our teachers and funny moments (the ponteng class thing, rotan, etc)..man, I really miss secondary sch days in kt. So many happy and some not-so-happy memories...

I was initially an alien to the pei hwa students when i transferred from convent. I was the "banana" girl cuz i'm not from a chinese ed sch. So, imagine how I felt at 13 years old, feeling really out of place and the yearning for my new friends acceptance. Some people hate me, some people like me. Some people just think I am weird cuz I dunno how to read/write chinese. I remember a bimbo Ah Lian try to hit me with a broom cuz I report her to the discipline teacher. What a *&%$@! Grrrr....I don't give a damn about the haters.

But I was lucky meet some really really good friends that accepted me, that help me to be who I am today. That really taught me to MUG like a pro. That taught me how to to have fun and work hard at the same time. That taught me how to help and support each other during exams.(mug in Ruiyin's house for chem..whoa!!)

Finally went back to KT..And i have been eating non-stop..:( Well, to make up for the improper meals that I have had for the past 1 month or so in Singapore. Home-cooked meals are the best!!!

Went to visit my grandma today and she looked so much healthier and energetic. Happy =) Hope she remains that way, healthy and happy, and not to have to another breakdown.

I must be nuts. I cut off my long hair (carry the long hair image for the past 7 years liao~). On why i make such a decision, well I had no idea. Perhaps to let go of something from the past, and perhaps summer in LA is gonna be real hot ba... I sat on the hairdresser chair, silently comforting myself that this is gonna be okay and i'll look great in short hair..after the major snippet and a bit of hair wax, i put on my glasses and looked into the mirror............."ermm hmmm cute". Haha i looked like a 17 year old girl now! Fatz sis said i look great. teehee =)

I ate the Chocolat Factory chocolates until my tooth couldn't take it anymore.. it is ssooo good that finished almost 70% of the bouquet erm which is a gift from someone special la (missing you heh)....The enormous chocolates chucks are made up of white chocs with lemon, milk chocs with almonds and dark chocs with hazelnuts!! Dinner today taste like the beach. Salty and with generous amount of sands. Seriously, the chinese food stall in PGP is a bad choice. It is when you do not have a choice only you choose to buy your food there.. chewed a mouthful of sands (perhaps dirt?) in the bayam (dunno wat in english) with cold meat and super salty potatoes..quality and quantity of food went down during vacation huh?? The MPN value (count for microbes in food) must have exceed the danger level...1 more year in PGP. That's it. Enuff.

Work is getting pretty mundane as time goes by..anyway another week to go before I say "sayonara" to my colleagues (Tina, Fidah, Cute Chocho, Theresa, Limin, Serene, Ayu, and both Padma & Nurul who had left earlier). Well, it has been an eye opening experience for me in the sales line, both the good and the bad. I guess the most important mindset one must have in the working world is 'tolerance' well unless if you are the boss or your father is the boss..

I am going to meet the people I miss the most soon. Time. Pls pass by quickly. =) tick tock tick tock tick tock

Summer holiday

It has been 2.5 weeks since I started work at Robinson's Raffles City. Robinson is a nice place and there are many angmoh tourist shop there, they are very hostile and always in an accented greeting "Hello dear" "Thank you. What a darhh-ling!" "Oh, excellent!" And I love those old angmoh tourist couples who are lovey-dovey, with pretty grey hair and sweet sweet smile on their faces.

In less than two weeks, I'll be back to my comfort zone. HOME. And I will start packing up my luggage for my 7 weeks stay in the United States. The tentative plan with the gang is to stay at Fei Chai's (Fei Chai is a new nickname for someone who has gained weight to 92kg!) aunt house in LA, then proceed to YinFong's sis home in woohoo Vegas..then check in to my so-called permanent residence, Rieber Hall. And I will leave the summer plan to Lionel aka "The Agent". hehe. It's good when you are young and able travel with the people you love and enjoying every moment of it. Reminds me of my high sch graduation trip to Pulau Tioman. We were nuts. We were high. And we enjoy the beautiful sunset. And we had the memories right at the back of our head. I so love my friends.

OK I gotta stop spending money in Singapore. Ditto. NO MORE the great singapore sale spree for me. It's all fei chai's fault la!!! The food and the jeans already cost me an arm...time to save $ liao..Today went to watch Pirates3. Shiok! As usual, Orlando is hawt!! Jack Sparrow reminds me of a mixture of YoonSeng+Jimmy. Haahaa. I miss em.

And to you Fei Chai, (if you happen to read this) who had given me so much laughter and time (and food!) for today, I thank you for that. Love the chocs =). Take care, enjoy the food back home and see ya soon!!

Customer service: The customer is ALWAYS right. It's also right when you think they are wrong. Wrong in the sense of rudeness, arrogant and demanding behaviour. What we learnt about consumer behavior in uni, nah its all rubbish. I guess everyone is pretending to smile and be polite to the buyers. That's why I prefer working with cells or mice in the lab. At least they won't ask for a discount.

But the good thing is that time passes really fast during worktime. There's no time for me to stare in the space. There's always something to do by the command of my supervisor.

Today I realised that yuan lai "The Doughnut Factory" that Liren was talking about is at the basement of Raffles City. Well, he actually bought me a dozen of doughnuts from TDF during the pre-exam stress period to cheer me up. What a sweetheart...So everytime I see a doughnut I'll remember his face. Haha! And the doughnuts from TDF are very nice esp the choc covered ring ones. The ones with white flakes topping and raspberry/blueberry in the middle are too sweet for me..I bet Krispy Kreme taste better but it's not available in Singapore.

And oh mengapa??? Doolittle is out of AI :( I wanna see her in the finals. But nontheless, she is already a winner. The finale would be a bit different without her, ppl watch AI because of her presence..and her voice.
